Films, TV shows and their soundtracks to look forward to this week.

This week, three noteworthy films are coming to UK cinemas on Friday. The first of which is Peter Hedges' Ben Is Back starring Julia Roberts and Lucas Hedges. Underscoring the unseasonal (Christmas, to be exact) family turmoil is Dickon Hinchliffe who is probably best known for his work on the highly popular series Peaky Blinders in 2016. He has also composed scores for Leave No Trace (2018) and Man Up (2015).
Next up is one for all those horror fans out there. Nicholas McCarthy's latest terror flick The Prodigy follows a mother and her son's disturbing supernatural behaviour. Horrors are nothing without music and so bringing this story to life is Joseph Bishara who is well practiced in scoring this genre as his past work includes scores for the Insidious franchise (2010-2018), The Conjuring franchise (2013-2016) and many others.
And finally, also worth checking out is David Robert Mitchell's Under the Silver Lake starring Andrew Garfield. Soundtracking the bizarre LA conspiracy is American composer Rich Vreeland, aka Disasterpeace, who has previously composed for a number of shorts and video games as well as the 2014 horror It Follows.

Now focussing on the small screen, tomorrow night will see Cheat premiere on ITV. This interesting insight into when lecturer-student relationships go wrong is soundtracked by British composer Edmund Butt. Butt has an extensive catalogue of work including scores for TV series Cold Feet (2016-2019), Origin (2018) and Mistresses (2008-2010). The soundtrack is not currently available.
Moving to Amazon Prime, also out tomorrow is the second series of American Gods which follows ex-convict Shadow and the unusual character he meets on the plan to his wife's funeral. The first series was composed by Brian Reitzell, but this time the creators employed prolific composers Danny Bensi and Saunder Jurriaans. The composing duo have worked on a number of high-profile films and series such as The Gift (2015), Ozark (2017-2018) and Boy Erased (2018). The soundtrack is not currently available.
