Films, TV shows and their soundtracks to look forward to this week.

This Thursday will play host to the return of Hellboy, this time brought to life by director Neil Marshall. Starring David Harbour as the famous comic book character, Hellboy will follow the battles that occur in a realm between the supernatural and human worlds. This addition of the popular story is composed by Benjamin Wallfisch who composed the music for Shazam! which was released last week, as well as Blade Runner 2049 (2017) and It (2017). The soundtrack will be available to stream and download on all main platforms on 12th April.

Three films of note are coming to UK cinemas this Friday. The first of which is Tina Gordon's Little which follows a 17 Again storyline where a stressed woman wakes up as her younger self. Aptly underscoring this female-based rom-com is Germaine Franco who has worked in the music department of a wide array of high profile films, and has also composed scores for Tag (2018) and Vida (2018-). The soundtrack is not currently available.
The second film of note takes us back two decades to '90s LA where Jonah Hill writes and directs the story of a troubled teenage boy who turns to a skateboarding crew for refuge in Mid90s. This hard-hitting comedy is underscored by American composing duo Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross, aka Nine Inch Nails, who have become respected screen composers due to their work on Birdbox (2018), Patriot's Day (2016) and Gone Girl (2014).
And finally, if neither of the above tickle your fancy, you could check out Tom Harper's Wild Rose which follows a Glaswegian musician striving for Nashville stardom. Underscoring this music-based film is Jack Arnold who has previously composed for a number of TV series including Striking Out (2017-2018), Loaded (2017) and The Level (2016). The soundtrack will be available to stream and download on all main platforms on 12th April.

Coming to ITV tomorrow is Amazon Prime Original The Widow which follows a woman who's led to the Congo as she uncovers the truth behind her husband's disappearance. This series is underscored by Swiss composer Dominik Scherrer who has composed for a plethora of TV series including The City and the City (2018), Requiem (2018) and The Missing (2014-). The soundtrack is not currently available.
Also out tomorrow night is BBC's The Victim, a drama which follows a mother who searches for her son's killer after his release. This harrowing series is soundtracked by Samuel Sim who you may know for his scores for The Bay (2019-), Innocent (2018-) and Born to Kill (2017). The soundtrack is not currently available.

On Wednesday, the third series of The Bold Type comes to Amazon Prime. This insight into the glossy magazine culture is scored by American composer Lyle Workman who has previously composed for such TV series as Good Girls (2018), Love (2016-2018) and Crashing (2017-2018). If you prefer Netflix over Amazon Prime, Black Summer premieres on the platform on Thursday. This zombie apocalypse series follows a mother searching for her daughter after the fall of civilisation. This apocalyptic horror is underscored by Alec Puro who has composed a number of TV scores such as Cults and Extreme Belief (2018), Wicked Tuna (2012-2018) and Fight of the Living Dead (2017). Back to live TV schedules, the second series of Speechless premieres on E4 on Thursday. This insightful series into the life and family of a special-needs teenager is soundtracked by Jeff Cardoni who also composed scores for Young Sheldon (2017-), Silicon Valley (2014-2018) and Girlboss (2017). And finally on Friday, semi-autobiographical comedy Special premieres on Netflix.
